springtime Jack

Jack is quite a character. On the left he's posing with Sirena the mermaid who sits in front of an old Spanish bridge in the island's capital. On the right he's having his face painted by Jingles the Clown. She is at every Navy family function and Jack loves to visit her. On the bottom he's wearing his spy glasses. If he's not a spy he's usually batman or spiderman, depending on the day.

springtime Cole

Hello everyone! It's hard to believe that the school year is over for Cole in a few short weeks. We are looking forward to summer as we are journeying home! Mid June we will fly to upstate New York. At the end of the month we'll head to Massachusetts. Then Tom will fly home June 28th and I will stay for the month of July with the kids. Cape Cod here we come! Here are a few recent pictures of Cole. On the bottom he's drinking our favorite drink here - melon freeze with tapioca balls- at the Pinewood Derby regional championship. In the middle he's putting coins into the new collecting case that Grampa Varney recently sent him. On the top he's sitting in front of his science project, which won 2nd place at his school's science fair. He's been in swimming lessons and recently has enjoyed playing baseball in the yard. He has quite a swing!

Nautilus Tour

Here's a few pictures from our excursion on the Nautilus Guam. This is a glass bottom boat that takes a trip from Cabras to the Western Shoals, a shallow water reef in Apra Harbor.

Time flies when you are having fun!!

My parents recently left the island to head back home after a Pacific vacation to Hawaii and Guam. Their visit went by so quickly, but not before we could see many of the historical and cultural sites on Guam. This picture was taken on the Two Lover's Point overlook, with a view of Tumon Bay and the Phillipine Sea on the west coast of the island. Take notice of the similarities between my mom and the fugitive Chamorro lady in upstate New York in the post below. A great time was had by all, if only it could have lasted longer. Until We Meet Again!!

Chamorro female spotted in Queensbury, NY

Please be on the lookout for a Chamorro female, 5'5" tall, roaming the snowy streets of Queensbury. She is likely to be shredding a coconut, doing the hula dance, or riding a Karibou. Please contact Guam Missing Persons Bureau with information.

Pinewood derby winner!

We just had to post a picture of Cole from his Pinewood Derby. There were over 40 cars that raced that night and Cole's car kept winning! When it came down to the final 4 he ended up placing in second. Here is a picture of Cole and his friend Drew.

Lauren's birthday

Hello there! I thought I'd post a few pictures as we may be losing power over the next several days. We are now in COR readiness 3 as we wait for a typhoon to enter this region. So far we've brought all of our outdoor stuff into our sheds. Next step will be to fill the tubs, stuff the freezer with newspaper, etc. Uggh! Just pray that it passes quickly and does not do much damage, especially as the Varneys are due to arrive on Tuesday. Here are a few pictures from my birthday. We went on a cave tour up north and then swam at Ritidian beach. Some of the grains of sand from that beach are shaped like perfect tiny stars. It's really incredible. In the afternoon we had lunch at my favorite restaurant - the Jamaican Grill. Then Tom and the boys made me an angel food cake. With no family around we definitely don't have as much angel food cake here as we should! It was delicious! Well, we will let you know how we fare over the next few days.
